The Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service cover four areas of Buckingham- the Aylesbury Vale, Chiltern, South Bucks and Wycombe- and that of Milton Keynes.
There are 20 fire stations which are crewed by 550 firefighters of which over 90% of them are constituents of the Fire Brigade Union and Brigade Secretary James Wolfenden and Brigade Chair Matt Bliss represent them. 6 of the fire stations are open 24 hours a day and these are the stations at the Aylesbury, Beaconsfield, Bletchley, Broughton, Great Holm, and High Wycombe; 4 of- which are Amersham, Buckingham, Gerrards Cross, and Newport Pagnell stations- Brill, Chesham, Great Missenden, Haddenham, Marlow, Olney, Princes Risborough, Stokenchurch, Waddensdon, and Winslow- are only open at daytime which is only from Monday to Friday, and the rest of the stations- are crewed by the retained firefighters who reside nearby and can quickly go to the stations within 5 minutes after an emergency call is received.
Recently, just on April 1st 2011, the logo of force has been removed from its firefighters’ uniform. Their famous logo is illustrated by the flag of Buckinghamshire which is divided into halves by red and black with a white swan in chains at the center.
