
The service was formerly called Central Region Fire Brigade in 1975, and it changed its name into Central Scotland Fire Brigade in 1996, and for the third time, in 2004, it changed its name again into its present name- Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service to better mirror its current responsibilities.
The service is in-charge of a 2,643 kilometer square area with a populace of 284,710. It is, thus, the statutory fire and rescue service of Central Scotland, Scotland.
There are 17 fire stations in operation around the area to respond immediately to emergencies. As of the moment, the service has 1 fulltime station at Stirling; 4 stations crewed full-time and retained at Alloa, Bo’ness, Falkirk, and Larbert; and the remaining 12 stations are crewed by retained firefighters who live nearby the stations so they can come over within 5 minutes after a call is received. The stations are at Aberfoyle, Balfron, Bridge of Allan, Callander, Denny, Doune, Dunblane, Killin, Slamannan, Tyndrum, Crianlarich and Tillicoultry.
In addition, it has 34 appliances covering the area of STirling, Falkirk and Clackmananshire. These equipments are as follows:
