
Cleveland Fire Brigade is named after the former Cleveland county that was abolished in 1996. It is the fire authority of Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar, and Cleveland and Sockton-on-Trees.
Cleveland Fire Brigade has 15 operational fire stations. 9 stations all operate 24 hours every day and they are based at Stranton, Hartlepool which has Water Tender Ladder, Water Tender, Emergency Tender/ Command Support Unit; Billingham which has Water Tender Ladder; Stockton which has Water Tender Ladder, Water Tender, Emergency Tender/Heavy Rescue Unit, and Hydraulic Platform; Thornaby that owns Water Tender Ladder, Water Tender, Land Rover 4×4 and Inflatable Water Rescue Boat; Guisborough which owns a Water Tender Ladder, Land Rover 4×4 pump; Skelton which owns a Water Tender Ladder and Loftus with Water Tender Ladder.
On the other hand, the remaining 6 stations are crewed by retained or on call firefighters who live nearby and can come to the station 5 minutes after a call is received. These stations are at Headland which owns Water Tender; Yarm which has a Water Tender; Guisborough wich has a Water Tender, Land Rover 4×4 Pump; Saltburn which has Water Tender Ladder and a Ford Ranger 4×4 Pump; Skelton which has Water Tender Ladder and Loftus which has Water Tender.
In addition, the brigade is cooperating with North East Ambulance Service for an emergency medical cover to areas of East Cleveland. This partnership’s objectives are to give aid until the arrival of either the Rapid Response Vehicle or an ambulance. The co-responders are the Guisborough, Saltburn, Skelton, and Loftus.
