The East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service is responsible to the counties of East Sussex and city of Brighton and Hove, and it is subsidized through the Council Tax. They are in-charge with a 1,792 kilometers square area and to 752,900 residents.
The Service performs a variety of functions from road traffic, road accidents, rescuing people trapped in buildings or houses, vehicle accidents, putting out fires, and many more. As a matter of fact, they are in community fire safety as well which means to say that they are initiating for a and/or symposia regarding on fire prevention measures.
There are 24 operational fire stations the Service has: there are 5 stations operating 24 hours every day and they are stations installed in Hove, Preston Circus, Roedan all located from the City Borough, Eastbourne in Eastbourne Borough, and Hastings and Bohemia Rd in Hastings Borough.
In addition, 7 stations are operating wholetime/retained and they are located at Lewed and Newhaven in Lewes Borough, Hastings and The Ridge in Hastings Borough, BBexhill and Battle in Rother Borough, and at Crowborough and Uckfield in Wealden Borough.
Then the remaining 12 stations are operated by retained firefighters who live nearby the stations so they can come over within 5 minutes after an emergency call is received. The stations are located at Barcombe and Seaford in Lewes District, Forest Row, Hailsham, Heathfield, Herstmonceux, Mayfield, Pevensey and Wadhurst in Wealden District, and Broad Oak, Rye and Burwash in Rother District.
