Grampian Fire and Rescue Service is the statutory fire and rescue service of Grampian, Scotland. It covers the areas of Moray Council, Aberdeenshire Council, and Aberdeen City Council which is in total area of 8,700 kilometers square with a total population of 530,000 up to 850,00 during summer and tourists season.
The firefighters performs a lot of roles such as putting out fires in houses, building, or in open spaces, rescuing people from collapsed buildings, attending to road collisions and informing the public regarding fire safety, etc.
Presently, the service has 19 fire stations in operation around the area. It has 4 fulltime operating fire stations which means to say that they are crewed 24 hours daily and they are in Aberdeen, Peterhead and Elgin. On the other hand, the stations crewed by retained firefighters who live nearby the stations so they can come over within 5 minutes after a call is received are located in 33 towns/villages in the area. In addition, the service has 1 volunteer unit at Gordonstoun School.
The main headquarters is at Aberdeen. Also, the service’s fire engines are painted white whereas other UK fire services engines are painted with red.
