2011 06 10 09301 Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue ServiceThere 27 operational fire stations Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service has.  They have stations crewed 24 hours which are located in Hereford, Worcester,  Kidderminster, Bromsgrove, and Redditch. It also has 3 stations operating only at day time which are based in  Malvern, Droitwich, and Evesham. The rest of the stations are crewed by retained/on-call firefighters who live nearby the stations so they can quickly come over within 5 minutes after a call is received. The 12 of the stations are located in Hereforshire, and the remaining are in Worcester.

In addition, the service employs 325 full-time operational staff, 369 on-call firefighters and officers, 26 fire Control staff, and 142 support staff. They are also a member team of USAR or Urban Search and Rescue unit.

There are approximately 9,000 emergencies the service attends annually. Most of the calls are about fire assistance, road accidents, and alerts from automatic alarm systems. They also get calls on rope rescue, grass fires and other incidents of which the service has a specialize team ready to attend to each incident. They are also into community safety that is why they are initiating activities to educate and inform the public regarding fire prevention measure and fire risks reduction. These activities mirror the service’s vision which is “making Herefordshire and Worcestershire safer from fire and other hazards and to improve community well-being.”
