North Wales Fire and Rescue Service

northwales North Wales Fire and Rescue ServiceNorth Wales Fire and Rescue Service was created as an offshoot of the local government reorganization on April 1, 1996. It is managed by 28 councilors appointed from the 6 unitary authorities which are the Anglesey County Council, Conwy County Borough Council, Denbighshire County Council,  Flintshire County Council, Gwynedd Council, and Wrexham County Borough Council. The number of representatives in each council is dependent on its population.

In other words, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service takes responsibility to an approximate 370,000 people living in an area of more than 2,400 square miles. It is also responsible to the tourists who visit the area every year. Thus, presently, it has more than 1,000 staff- both in operation and support.

The service performs its tasks based on the guidelines set by the Fire and Rescue Services Act 2004 and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. They also have to decide and approve service plans and supervise the revenue and capital budgets and other important matters. Apparently, the service is not only confined to the usual tasks of fire services.

The Fire Authority members convene 4 times annually to discuss important matters such as routine business matters, financial matters, plans, and to make decisions.
