Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service

Notts Fire logo Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue ServiceThe Fire Services Act 1947 created both the City of Nottingham Fire Brigade and Nottinghamshire Fire Brigade. Then they were joined together in 1974 but since 1998 the service has been managed by councilors from Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council.

Thus, the service is the statutory fire and rescue service of Nottinghamshire and Nottingham, in the East Midlands of England.  It covers an area of 2, 160 kilometers square homing 1,041,300 people.

The service has 24 fire stations installed strategically all over the place. It has 3 stations operating 24 hours daily; 8 stations operating on a wholetime and retained duty system; and 13 stations operating on a retained duty system. These stations are then split into 9 districts: at Bassetlaw, the stations are at Worksop, Retford, harworth, Misterton and Tuxford. In the district of Newark & Sherwood, the stations are at Newark, Edwinstowe, Collingham, Blidworth, and Southwell. In Mansfield district, the stations are at Mansfield and Warsop; there are also stations installed at Ashfield and Hucknall in Ashfield district; another station is at Stockhill in the City North; and Central in City South. There are also stations at West Bridgford, at Bingham and East Leake in Rushcliffe district; at Arnold and Carlton in Gedling; and at Highfields, Stapleford and Eastwood at Broxtowe.
