picture 100 Staffordshire Fire and Rescue ServiceStaffordshire Fire and Rescue Service is the statutory fire and rescue service of  Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. It is a joint administration of several areas of the county and it covers a total area of 2000 kilometers square and has a population of approximately 2 million.

The service has a variety of tasks- it is responsible for preventing fire, putting out fires in houses or in open spaces, protecting the community from fire occurrences, rescuing people trapped in houses or enclosed spaces, and attending to road accidents.

There are 31 operational fire stations installed strategically all over the area in order to respond quickly to emergencies. The stations are split into 9 areas which are Staffordshire Moorlands, Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle Under Lyme, Stafford, East Staffordshire, South Staffordshire, Cannock Chase, Lichfield, and Tamworth. The main station is in Stone and it is administered by Chief Fire Officer Peter Dartford.

Most of the stations are operating based on a retained duty system while the remaining stations operate based on a full-time or daytime duty system. The stations are installed in Abbots Bromley, Ashley, Barton Under Needwood, Biddulph, Brewood, Burslem, Burton, Cannock, Chase Terrace, Cheadle, Codsall, Eccleshall, Gnosall, Hanley, Ipstones, Kidsgrove, Kinver, Leek, Lichfield, and in Longton.
