Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service is the statutory fire and rescue service of the ceremonial county of Wiltshire, England. The administration of the service is handled by the joint authority of 13 members, 9 of which are appointed by the Wiltshire Council and 4 by Swindon Borough Council. The members composed the Wiltshire and Swindon Fire Authority.
The service covers 3,476 kilometers and has a population of 635,300 as of 2006 estimation. It has 25 fire stations in operation, 3 of which are wholetime stations, 3 day crewed, and the remaining 18 are crewed by retained firefighters. It also has 1 nucleus fire station and has a training center for cave and quarry rescue for the underground area of Corsham.
The wholetime stations are in Salisbury which owns Water Tender Ladder, Water Tender, Emergency Support Unit, Aerial Ladder Platform, Control Unit, and Foam Unit; in Swindon which owns 2 Water Tender Ladders, Aerial Ladder Platform, Damage Control Unit, and Chemical Incident Unit; and in Stratton St. Margaret which has 2 Water Tender Ladders.
The stations operating only in daytime are located in Chippenham which owns Pump Ladder Rescue, Pump Ladder Rescue Compressed Air Foam Systems Appliance, Emergency Support Unit, Rope Rescue Unit, Water Rescue Unit, and a Boat Unit; in Trowbridge which has Pump Ladder Rescue, Pump Ladder Rescue Compressed Air Foam Systems Appliance, Emergency Support Unit, Rope Rescue Unit, and Water Rescue Unit; and in Westlea, Swindon which has Pump Ladder Rescue Compressed Air Foam Systems Appliance.
The stations operated by retained firefighters are located in Amesbury, Bradford on Avon, Calne, Cooper Avon, Corsham, Crickdale, Devizes, Ludgershall, malmesbury, Marlborough, Melksham, Mere, Pewsey, Ramsbury, Tisbury, Warminster, Westbury, Wilton and in Wootton Bassett.
Also, Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service in cooperation with Great Western Ambulance Service provide emergency medical cover to Wiltshire areas identified to have greater need of ambulance assistance. The team executes first aid while waiting for the Rapid Response Vehicle or an ambulance to arrive. The stations operating as co-responders are:
